Bobbie Zimmerman and her neighbors are afraid of the rain. On a stormy night last year Zimmerman’s daughter alerted her to the water seeping in from the street in front of their two-family home. Due to the lack of absorption points in Queens, just an inch or two of rain is enough to dampen basements and flood roadways. (Also, please note this correction: "Bethany Baptist Church and Sunnyside Reformed Church used to flood, but when EQUAL and others were able to push the DEP to improve drainage maintenance in those locations, the flooding stopped.")
